Odisha CM Majhi Launches CM-KISAN Scheme to Boost Financial Aid for Farmers, The event also saw the inauguration of the CM-KISAN portal, facilitating smooth implementation of the scheme.
In a significant move to support the farming community, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the CM-KISAN Yojana on September 8, 2024, at Gangadhar Meher University, Sambalpur. Under this scheme, more than 45.97 lakh small, marginal,
and landless farmers will receive Rs 4000 annually in two installments—Rs 2000 each on Nuakhai and Akshaya Tritiya. The first installment, totaling Rs 925.40 crore, was disbursed via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to eligible farmers during the event.
The CM-KISAN scheme complements the existing PM-KISAN Yojana, providing farmers an additional Rs 4000 on top of the Rs 6000 they already receive from the central government.
This brings the total annual assistance to Rs 10,000 per farmer, aimed at helping them procure essentials like fertilizers and agricultural tools.
The event also saw the inauguration of the CM-KISAN portal, facilitating smooth implementation of the scheme. Majhi emphasized that this initiative would play a crucial role in enhancing agricultural productivity and welfare. Furthermore, he reiterated the state’s commitment to providing a minimum support price of Rs 3100 per quintal of rice.
This launch coincided with the Nuakhai festival, marking the beginning of the rabi crop season(Big News Network)(OrissaPOST)(Lokmat Times).
